Hiromi Ishioka, a proposer of the world peace drum did the volunteer with many youngsters of Otsuki city,Yamanashi from January 1994 for 1 month to hangs a vinyl sheet on the roof of each house which collapsed by Great Hanshin Earthquake.It forms "Otsuki Akafuji Daiko" mainly the young who were roughly grown in continuing a volunteer human-ly. While the harmony and the rule were born in the member while applying to the practice and participating in the event in the area and so on, the decision to one piece of one area contribution increased.
As continuing human education through the drum activities, he decides to make the biggest drum based in Otsuki for "Nourish Beat and Heart human" . And he makes up his mind to introduce Japanese culture to the world in 1999, and a creating execution committee by the Otsuki citizens volunteer in July, 2000. In this way, the big drum construction started.

It creates the image picture of the drum based on the concept. The handwriting "dance" and "heart" for back and front were writen by Mr. Taiko Mochizuki. They discuss the design and it finally decide on the golden dragon and Chinese phoenix painted by Mr. Mokichi Otsuka. Based on the design, ceramist, Mr. Takashi Kitamura modifies a sketch and Mr. Otsuka creates a full-scale sketch. It is a large size indeed !

The picture was created by Mr. Murai, Mr. Otsuka and Mr. Kitamura's member under the guidance of Mr. Kitamura. It used 500 gold fails! They painted the handwriting "dance" and "heart", and the golden dragon and Chinese phoenix on the gold foils. While considering the balance and looking of the color, the work countinued the every day and night. It completed about for 2 weeks. The assembly also pleased. The body part which was finally divided more in 6 from Ishikawa arrives. The assembly work. using the crane The whole picture of the drum could have been seen.
The 4.8m diametey cow hide of which has been made,was painted by students from the Kutani Porcelain Technical Institute.The painting of the drum took two weeks to com lete,and five hundred sheets of gold leaf were used.The main body of the drum can be broken down into six sections.It took months to complate the building of the drum.

The staffs and participants are signed to inside of the drum by Mr. Mochizuki. He finally painted the dragon's eyes and it completed. Thank you so much to stuffs for 6 months!
